Featuring the best young traditional musicians of the Scottish Borders
The Small Hall Band has been going since 1995 and over the years has brought together family groups and other musicians to enjoy playing and learning Scottish and Irish Traditional Music in an informal environment.
Currently the band has about 20 playing members on a variety of instruments - fiddle, flute, whistle, bodhran, guitar, banjo, mandolin, keyboard.
We enjoy playing for concerts and Ceilidh Dances, and have recently recorded our first CD called 'Cakes 'n Ceilidhs'
2009 has been a busy year. The Band have played for Ceilidhs and events throughout the year and enjoyed some memorable occasions like the Hexham weekend and The Border Gaitherin also in May.
The young folks and their families come from many different parts of Scottish Borders and North Northumberland. Our musicians and dancers have been winning awards and competitions both locally, and internationally.
We have welcomed some new young members this year who are very committed to learning the repertoire and who were able to join us when we made our CD on 8th November at the Lady Waterford Hall in Ford, Northumberland.
